Okay guys I need help on this one REALLY! Confused
Well my fridge seems to have problems and I cant explain it every night after midnight my refridgerator will bang VERY loudly and it scares me i could understand it if it happened during the day to but only after midnight sometimes its really loud other times its kind soft it sounds like someone is taking a sledge hammer to the side of it and hitting it with great force and with tile floors everything echos in here! Shocked
and then my TV in my room has recently begun to do the same thing banging like someone comes up to the side of it and wraps it really hard
do any of you have any suggestions on what is happening here? Idea I am at a loss!

ahhhhh, so this is the bang you heard around 1am when you first moved in ?

Has to be to do with cooling and heating on the rear I would think, cos there's not much inside lol.
Are you on some kind of night save electric plan ?
What i'm wondering is whether the fridge is kicking in or out at a certain rough time and based on a wall adaptor for electric useage. If there's no plug in the wall, is there one at the fuse box of the house ? I know this type of thing is common in the UK for big electrical devices. 'Economy 7' used to be popular, storage heaters etc would run overnight when electric was somehow cheaper.

The TV going bang isn't such the easy thing to work out. There's nothing inside a TV that would properly go bang more than once lol. I've heard plenty of TV's make a loud snap or creak sound from their casings though, especially thinner plastic ones. One thing to try,, unscrew and rescrew the retaining screws of the case....if one gets loose it can snap back on itself when the set cools down after being used. TV's can get pretty warm inside and then when they cool down again things slightly reseat. If any screw is a bit loose then that will allow for expansion...so taking a screwdriver to it (when unplugged) might remove the bang.
Also, try lightly pressing on the top and on the sides...if you hear a creak then that could well be what is being heard, only louder through heat and cooling..

wow slider you are amazing!well all my tvs make that loud bang and even when they have been off for some time about 2 or 3 hours,i knew about the cooling and heating thing but it just didnt seem to be the case with the tvs because after 2 or 3 hours they should be cooled already so im still unsure why they do it,as far as the fridge there doesnt seem to be a set timer on it or an energy saver but it could be what you say it is,but why is it a soft bang sometimes and other times it will wake me from my sleep its soooo loud?it literally sounds like someone takes a sledge hammer to the side of it and hits it really hard!

There's a lot of metal in fridges, so the sound source might get amplified.
I'd go around it like the TV's, pressing on different bits. If one bit goes 'pop' and moves, then you've found out what might bang back into shape at nights.
Put somethi8ng at the side or a piece of wood from wall to fridge side if you find something like that.

For the TV's, get a room sized fan and run it at the side of a TV (not at the back or overcooling and dust blow through might cause damage as much as overheating). If you can see circuits on the side then position it on the side where they are. That way, the TV stays cooled down and it shouldn't make a sound after 2 or 3 hours.
Being as rooms are usually about the same temperature whatever the weather outside, it might help.

I'm not sure if you have resolved the issues with banging of you Fridge and TVs yet.

Here's my questions:

What is frequency of the Fridge bangs? (I mean time in between bangs)
Does it occur on a daily basis?
How old is the Fridge?
Does the Fridge have an automake IceMaker?
Is there a (foam or otherwise) cover over the compressor compartment?
